Labor Day Weekend at Loon Lake

I love this time of year, at the lake. This week, the temperature has varied from 90 degrees early in the week, down to 42 degrees overnight into Friday morning. We have had sunshine, wind, starry nights and torrential rain. went from running the dehumidifier to contemplating a fire in the fireplace.

Fishing in the lake has been excellent. The grandkids are catching good sized perch; their parents several good sized Smallmouth Bass. The North Branch of the Saranac is running fast, cold and high; hopefully some Trout will rise once it calms down a bit.

Things should get even quieter here after this weekend. (Out here at the Northern end of the lake— is that even possible?). We are inundated with family— Paula has prepared 10 pizza doughs for Saturday night. Will put the sons to work— pulling the sailboat and swim float. Nice to have some help.

The Adirondacks have been hopping this Summer. I have been running into people at some pretty remote places. The hiking trails all have been busy, including Loon Lake Mountain. Trailhead parking in the High Peaks has been overflowing. Will be spending Labor Day at the Cascade Mountain trailhead working as an Adirondack 46er Trailhead Steward.

Enjoying this end to Summer, looking forward to my favorite Season at the Lake.
