This is traditionally the busiest weekend at Loon Lake. Today, Friday, is the calm before the storm for me. One of my Sons has been here all week, fishing, with friends. Nine more family members are coming in this morning.
At the moment, I am enjoying the quiet. No one else is awake here at camp. The dogs have been out, and I have climbed Crusher, and paddled the lake. Let the craziness begin.
I believe there will be fireworks off Horsehead Point, Saturday Night, just after Dusk. They are awesome from a boat.
The fishing has been fantastic. Lots of Yellow Perch with worms. Good size Smallmouth Bass on rubber worms and Rapalas. No Northern Pike.
While out paddling this morning, there were two boats out fishing, and another solo paddler. That constitutes busy on Loon Lake.
Most camps on the Northern Basin are occupied, with several families arriving this week for the Summer.
I was reading that the Adirondacks are one of the preferred vacation destinations this year. You can get here by car, and easily maintain social distancing. If you bring your food, stay at camp, and avoid people, you can have a COVID-free vacation.
That’s it for now— need to enjoy the next couple of hours of calm.
