Paula and I have a few holiday traditions we have maintained over the years. A Holiday house tour in her home town. Cutting down the Christmas tree. Most importantly, watching “It’s a Wonderful Life;” at camp, one of the weekends leading up to Christmas. It’s rare for us to both stop and relax at the same time, especially in front of the TV.
This year, we introduced “It’s a Wonderful Life” to some of the grand kids. The grand kids seemed to be grouped into three categories, known as the Littles, the Middles and the Bigs. We had the Bigs over for pizza and the movie. Paula thought they might be bored. They weren’t: they were mesmerized. It was a great time, and truly enhanced the tradition.
