Up in the Adirondacks, solo, as Paula is taking a cheese making course. Finished up on her birthday, anniversary present– replacing our fireplace hearth with Ausable Forks granite. Came out really nice.
Fishing has been good. In the last week I have caught two Smallmouth Bass– one at 18 1/2 inches, the other at 18. Casting a broken back, deep diving perch Rapala. Fished really slow. Water temperature is now 57.
The blackflies and mosquitoes are here. It is cool enough in the morning, that they are not active early in the day. Yesterday was in the 30’s around 5AM, today it was in the 40s. I have been taking Porter out to train around 7AM; he is doing quite nicely.
Early spring wildflowers are out. The camp is surrounded with painted trillium. There is also a lot of red trillium up along the Loon Lake Mountain trail, once you leave the logging road.
I better go cut more Pizza oven wood, before the bugs get bad.
